Hello fellow Volvo owners. I have been the proud owner of a 1998 c-70 for over 6 years and am having a major issue I wanted to share. Last night my headlights would not come on. After playing with the switch, they will come on if I hold the actual switch in. I read online that if this happens then the switch isn't bad. I am looking to fix this myself and was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this problem and if so, what they did to correct it.

Thank you for your input-

Scott :liebe011:

How do you hold the switch when it is a turn style knob, or are you describing the turn signal stalk that activates your high beams? Remember that the early C70's had a recall on the dash switch. The replacement one has a small green light on the front.

I am pressing in( 90 degrees) on the head light switch which is located on the left hand side of the steering wheel. This will make the head lights come on. If i take the pressure of the switch, the head lights go off.

Sounds like you found the problem, replace the switch. Should take you about a minute to replace. BTW does your switch have a small green light on the front? If not then you could probably get it replaced for free at a Volvo dealership under a service recall.

Thanks for the input. I actually called Volvo and to my surprise since my car is 10 years old, the repair was covered under a recall. Already fixed and done. :460:
