Hey,

I have a beautiful 1991 240 SE which was purchased end of April. The radio reception is at times horrible and sometimes really good, but that might be the antenna or Los Angeles itself because I am getting much static and on occasion loud bleeping noises, who knows?
Anyway to my actual problem.
The cassette player is working perfectly except recently maybe about 3 or 4 days I noticed a clicking noise which occurs when a cassette is played in either direction, does anybody have an idea what this could be , and advice?

Any help on either radio or more importantly cassette player is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much,

-Moritz D. :haha:

old cassette player circuitry makes many strange noises-usually not worth fixing. Clicking:check age of your tape, and whether it's sticking. Tapes left in cars get hot/damaged-traditional trouble. Old cassette recorder may need new belts too, esp if it hasn't had enough regular use. Temperature extremes worsen all these.

Does anybody have any other advice by chance?
Does anybody know where I can find a TD 613 replacement if all else fails?
Is this common?

Thanks

like manx posted, the age of the unit and the cassettes play a major role. if you are handy, open up the unit and clean it out. dust and dirt accumulate in their. just like the unit at home, you need to clean this one, the difference is, the one at home is a shallow shape of the cassette, as opposed to the unit in your car which has depth where dust can fall into. you can try a cleaning tape, but that only cleans the heads, what about the bands that run the heads? those need to be replaced also. try vandsautodismantlers.com for a replacement unit. just be warned, they are used parts. these guys a volvo junkers. or replacement parts purveyors, whatever you want to call them, the parts are from junked volvos. good luck.
