Curr. looking at the mentioned above. Veh has 126,876 miles, Auto trans.
Problems that were found were:
1. Axle seal on pass. side of trans is leaking.
2. Needs 2 frt tires and rear pads.
3. ABS and TRACS OFF lights come on and off. Usually after cranking veh.

Thanks for all the time spent reading this. TurboMommy. How much is the ABS fix going to be?? Round-a-bout figures on the fix are ok.

Just some guesswork here, but I have looked intosome of this for my Volvo (although your location may differ). Also, any price guesstimates I may give are assuming you do it yourself and just buy the parts, if you have a mechanic do it, then add a fair amount more.

1. If you can fix just the seal, then you should be ok with mainly just some time spent on the repair. Replacing the axle shaft itelf, isn't cheap. Last time I checked it ranged from $300-$375 for an aftermarket axle. I expect one direct from Volvo would quite a bit more.

2. Tires cost is largely your own choice in what you buy, as far as prices go. Rear brake pads (if that is all you need) shouldnt cost more than $20. If you are not familiar with changing brake pads then doing it yourself might take 60-90 mins.

3. ABS Module. You do not have to have it in the car for the car to run fine. There are places on the net that you can send yours to to be repaired, or you can buy a remanufactured (repaired) unit for around $125 I think. Buying a new one is alot more...I am guessing $300-$400, but I havent bothered to price a new one, I plan on having mine rebuilt or just buying one that already has been.

Number 1 can have some possible influence on others. Check thoroughly.

Tires and Brake pads to me are maintenance. Cant do much about them. The more you use them, the more they naturally wear off.

You can try the Rocca person that handles ABS rebuilding. He is on the web.

Well, i looked into by archived bill with the dealer, and it stated there RM1,650 and given the conversion rate of RM3.2 per USD, that's around USD516!

I have since bought a used malfunctioning unit and sent it for reconditioning. Reconditioning by a member of the local club here, who also doubles as a RICA Agent for the country, was about RM300. Without fitting, of course. That translates to USD94.

NEVER AGAIN, to the DEALER!
:)
