I've read many posts about people having problems with their fuel door hinge, however, my 2001 XC70 has no latch. As in; when I make a U-turn I can see it swinging open in my passenger side mirror. Is there supposed to be a grommet in there or something? I also read here that after 10 minutes the fuel door is locked. Not on mine. If anyone can tell me what parts I need to fix this I would be most appreciative.

Also, I've changed brake pads on a honda and a toyota -- can I do my XC70 pads without any special tools?

Yes, outside of a torque wrench.
