Hi i have a 1996 volvo 850 2.5D tdi, where can i get a workshop manual for this diesel engine. I think volvo fitted an audi or a vw engine in this car?.
I have a fault code EF132 engine coolant temp (ECT) sensor signal and my cooling fan is running all the time even for 10 minets after you turn the engine off.
Can you help?
thanks Johnn.

Your ECT is screwed.

Take a good look at the ECT and see if there is any cables cut or anything like that.
Otherwise, just change the ECT.

Your ECT is attached to the thermostat housing. Slightly hidden, but you can reach them with the right Spanner. Expect some draining of coolant.

Once you have the ECT out, inspect it first for damages. Sometimes, thw cables are cut.

BTW, if nothing is seemingly wrong with the cables, try this as an emergency measure that i did, long ago but works... A temporary measure, cos i wasnt comfy knowing that it could cause overheating. I brushed the sensor rod with a wire brush to clean the 'rust' off the rod, after dipping the sensor tip in really hot water. It worked.

Hi Johnn, the haynes manual will cover everything but the engine on your car. After that Haynes usualy do a book that is specific to the engine only, if it is used across a variety of models / makes, which yours is, so there may be one out there.
