Sorry for the delay in reply. Yes, it is.
I just sent the car to be officially tested and approved by the road authorities this morning. Got someone to do it for me.

But the car is officially thus far, OK again.
:)

Aside from having to fit a new 'USED' engine in.
:)

Thanks for asking, dude.

:cat: Good evening Ampangbear.

Very sorry to read about the disasters with your car. It is probably the one thing which we all pray will never happen to us.

I hope the financial burden does not cause you too much distress.

Cheers-today is the shortest day of the year for us! :right:

Greek and Auckland,

:haha: Thank you for lighting up my MONDAY MORNING. (Just when EVERYTHING goes wrong, from the first second i entered the car, to the point i alighted)...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaanyway. I guess am going to have to go through with the engine again. Bit by bit. But should be faster, now that i've done it before.

And guess what?
Last Saturday, we checked the thermostat conditions of 2 other 855T5s! And youuuu guessed it, in BOTH instances, the ORIGINAL VOLVO THERMOSTAT was broken into friggin pieces. When we reconstructed the structure, we think there maybe a few metal pieces broken and is presently stucked inside the engine cooling lines.

To be fair, they couldnt tell me exactly when was the last time they changed their thermostats. Oh well...

Financial burden?
Well, of course. Noone likes money outflows.
:)

But in the end, i guess costs are OKAY lah. Nothing special. They said i got a good deal, but i dunno, maybe i can get it better elsewhere.

I went with a used engine block. But replaced NEW the following:-
1) Water Pump
2) Oil Cooler Hoses (Top & Bottom)
3) Metal Coolant Line (Above the Turbo, back of the engine block)
4) Thermostat
5) Seals, seals, seals (some got burnt outright due to the temperature of the engine when it overheated)
6) and a few other things that made me went :crying: thinking about it.

... but guess what? THe Teflon intake manifold gasket was CLEAN. No marks at all. That was one cool investment.
:)

Well, as my darling wife put it, there's a reason for everything to happen...
:)

I tested the new (used) engine, better now while still under verbal-warranty, than later, right?

Went up to above 200kmh many, many times and i guess it was OK.
Only that when i changed the oil and filter last weekend, i noticed there some oil leak. Maybe the oil cooler hoses are not tight. Need to check again, soon on that one.
