I have a 1997 V40 T4 with the stock 16x6.5 wheels and 205 tyres. There doesn't seem too much clearance within the wheel well to increase wheel tyre width. Can anyone advise on a maximum size?
Thinking of going up to 17 inch diameter as 18 I think is asking for trouble in the way of damaged rims/tyres should I hit a pothole.
Was hoping 225's with a 7inch wide rim might work.

I have a feeling that you can get away with 215 on 17" wheels that combo will rub if the cars loaded but is ok most of the time. Any bigger and there will be clearance problems in normal conditions though.(im not 100% on this though it just rings a bell).
