After installing a new stereo in the upper slot in my 91 240 wagon, I found I have no dash lights or horn. The lights worked fine last time, as did the horn the few times I've used or bumped it since buying the car 6 weeks ago. The fuses are good, & the other items on the horn fuse work fine(wipers/washer). There's juice at the fuse block to the panel. My ex-mech buddy(20+ years owning Volvo shops & salvage yards) says he thinks the grounds for these are at the wiper switch, but I'm less than enthused about enetering the airbag zone. Any ideas? Thank, Marty

As a first step, I would disconnect the new stereo and see if the problem goes away. With the dash lights, check the rheostat that controls the light brightness (or lack thereof) and follow the wires from that point.
For the stereo, did you:
1. connect up to the existing wiring?
2. run new wires from the fuse-box for the stereo?
3. splice into another part of the wiring harness?

They went away the day I started the project, before the new kit was installed. All I did was pull the glove box, remove the Torx screws, try to undo the keeper on the back of the radio from the glove box side, then popped off the 6x9 grill from the top of the dash, undid the keeper from there, & then slid the stock radio partway out & undid the antenna & stock harness connectors on the back of the radio. Ever since, niente!
