i have been a long time 240 s/w owner, but now i'm in the market for a new brick and found what i think is a really nice 94 850 wagon. it has about 160k on it and throughout the test drive everything felt fine. however, i did check the tranny fluid and found it to be a dark color, definitely not pink or red. should i be concerned enough to get it looked at by a tech before purchasing based on this indicator alone?

You can have it looked at if you would like.A car with that high milage on it would be bark fluid.Even if they changed it once it would be dark. You can change it and make sure it shifts good before you buy it.Or try to get the owner to do it.

Yes flushing the fluid will help.It will make it cleaner but it won't last along time before it is dark again. But that also doesn't mean it isn't working properly.

before buying check to see if any trouble codes! dont do what i did since your car is obd1 it should be easier and no shanner is needed to check for codes.
