Hi,

I was thinking on improving the handling of my C70 cabrio MY99 mounting
a front strut bar.

Has anyone done this? Did it improve the handling of the car?

Cheers!

less body roll in turns, stayed flatter. better control, didn't feel like it would go off by itself. better turn in. what are you looking for exactly? what does your car do that you don't like?

Yes, more precise handling. More stiffness in the front chassis...

Did you also get less "squeeking" noises from the dashboard when riding over bumps?

squeaking will still be heard, just not in the same instances. it'll squeak at different times. you will need to remove the dash pad and reinstall it tighter, something is probably loose after all theses years. c70 are known for squeaking, especially the convertibles.

I opted for the aluminum factory Volvo Strut brace. Perfect fit, $219. 10 minute install.

Stiffens the uni-body allowing the suspension to do the conformity work with the road surface and not just have the body flex and follow the suspension into a hole.

Subtle but noticeable in all driving circumstances. On normal driving road undulations. these smoothed out markedly. The front suspension can now do it's job; Isolating a lot of road surface irregularity and making for a smoother and tauter drive.

For Better Handling, this was in my mind a mandatory starting point. Beefier sway bar end links, bigger sway bars, and HD struts/shocks like Bilstien are what I want next. The end links are on the way.

On my HPT the torque steer is a real problem. Don't know how to solve that yet.
