Actually, looking through all my Volvo information, the 1993 model is shown as having a filter in the ECU box.

Ahaaaaaaaa...
What a blardy interesting fact.
How does it look like?

I tried looking at FCPGroton, IPDUSA, AutoHauz and another one, i forgot what, but they dont seem to have/carry that ECU Filter.

X-Piece,
Can take photo?

It's only on the really early ones, it's at the start of that ventilation pipe that goes to the ECU, never seen one get replaced before..

Have you tried just getting the measurements and going to a local auto parts store to see if any of the ones for other cars will fit? Many cars use that style and shape, and normal air filters come in all sizes it seems. Possible one might be close enough in size to use.

Never had a problem opening up the boxes in the store and looking at the filters. At least no one ever came up to me to tell me to stop.

X-Piece,

That's really COOL, man! I asked a guy here who has the 1993 GLT, and he told me that there's even some sort of a 'fan' there? Wah...

In anycase, if you cant find one, just use some dish-wasing sponge and cut it to size nicely, and glue to edges there. Should last you a few more years, before that too, turn into 'dust'.

Yeah at the other end of it is a fan, it runs after the car is turned off for about a minute. I think it keeps the ecu nice and cool. Ever put your hand on top after a drive? Hey black, I will measure it, thats a good idea. I dont have the part number its disentigrated away.

I'd be interested to get 'acquainted' with this ECU Fan, actually.
Yes, i know its hot, some of our members even drilled holes on the ECU box to facilitate cooling.

Jealousy, eh?

Am now always thinking of ways to make sure the bloody engine gets enough cooling. HAHA.

Even thinking of cutting some inconspicuous air vents on the hood. Maybe paint the same colour over them as well.

I saw an 850 with slits cut into the hood right over each headlight and they bent the metal up to look like fins as you would see on old heaters is what it reminded me of, two on each side. It looked really good.
