Just like in one of the other topics, my 2002 C70 conv rear window has come detached from the conv top. I am told by Volvo as well as many Auto glass professionals that this cannot be repaired, but must be replaced. The Auto/Glass professionals seem to think this is an manufacturer defect since it is factory adhesived. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how was it resolved?

I saw someone repaired his on his own, but did the fix hold and if so how long? Volvo is estimating a new top would cost $2800 and will only warrant the work for 1 year or 12,000 miles. I have got estimates for $1300 with a 5 year warranty on the top. Volvo has agreed to pay half of the repairs at their facility. Waiting to hear if they will just cut me a check. (Highly improbable, though.)

Any thoughts?

Depending on where you live, where you park it and how you wash it I was told by a couple of trim shops that the life span on a top like the ones on our C70's should be 6 to 10 years.
Mine lasted 8 before the window detached.
They can be glued back, but it will cost you $300 + - and it's just "roll the dice " on how long it will last.
If you found a reputable trim shop that will do a top of equal quality for $1300, go for it. The best I could do was $2000, and don't forget the headliner, it could run up to $500 extra.
I'm amazed that Volvo is offering to pay anything on a car that age?
