I recently joined the list of proud Volvo owners and purchased a pristine 1998 S70 T5. I would like your opinions and advice as to brake rotors and pads. I am looking to repalce the front and rear rotors and pads soon and would like some input on different brands and styles. Do you suggest cross drilled and slotted versus just slotted if so why? What brand rotors are you guys running and the performance you are getting from them is greatly appreciated.

Also any input as to timing belt replacement kits ie. belt, tensioner , waterpump etc. Versus buying seperately and again the brand you would suggest.

Thanks guys.

on my 850, i changed over to xc90 rotors. the stock ones from a twin turbo. on my other cars, the camaro's are slotted and the impala's are drilled and slotted. from what i have gathered in my impromptu testing methods, the impala stops harder and is not prone to fading. not sure if it's the rotors being drilled/slotted or the fact that i have abs on them. the camaro stops a hell of a lot better than it was when stock. but that is not saying much since my little 6 year old nephe'ws big wheel stopped better than my stock camaro's brakes. in all the cars, i run ebc green pads. more dust, unforutnately, but better feel (to me, anyway) and less fade. now for the other items. check out fcpgroton.com they only deal with factory items for volvos. if you can get it as a kit, go for it, since everything you will need will be in there. good luck and hope this helped.

Thanks that does help. Did the XC90 rotors fit without any modifications? What do you do to keep the dust down, anything? Ever tried the dust shields? And last but not least as I am also a Chevy man, what size BB you got in the SS? Thanks.

it wasn't easy. i had another member ask the same question and i honestly can't say that it was a cake walk, i remember alot of swearing and big hammers and a blowtorch, but it fit. i wouldn't advise a dustshield only for the fact that since it stops the dust from going out, it must stop air from going in a cooling the rotors. my thinking  in the impala, it's a 509 with quad cams. cost an arm and a leg, that's why i should be called stumpy  the camaro is a 454 bored out .60 over. you can see where all my money went in the garage section. check other models/brands.
