Hi guys and sorry for bumping this topic :)

Just thought I'd mention that I might have exaggerated a bit regarding how long it takes for the plug on the oil-burning cylinder to go bad and misfire.
I said anywhere up to about 500 km, but that's not right, as the current plug has been running for at least 2000 km without problems.

It still is a problem though, and I intend to do something about it none the less.
Therefore I need some tips about where to order the parts from.
I've been looking at some sites and found that Groton seems to have a good selection, only problem is that they don't ship to Norway.

Does anyone know of an online parts dealer that ships internationally?
(I'm trying to avoid the norwegian ones as their prices are practically meant to keep people from doing their own repair (and the reason for that is that we wouldn't want the garages and dealerships to go out of business, of course)).

The engine is in fact designed in such a way that the pistons never travel far enough up to make access to the piston rings

I don't see how it would be possible to design an engine that would allow the piston to travel far enough up (or down) into the bore to make the rings accessible. The rings have to be compressed to slide the piston into the bore, so as soon as the rings hit the top (or bottom) of the bore they would expand and be destroyed on the next stroke. Or did I miss something?

Is there any way you could find another engine that maybe isn't running so well? A local wrecking yard maybe? If you're going to all the trouble to tear your engine completely apart, it might be easier to just rebuild another motor, then swap it with the one in your car. It would reduce your down-time, and you wouldn't have to rush the job.

As for a re-ring with the block in the car, I've seen it done over the course of a weekend by a mechanic at a dealership I worked at. He did a ring job on his mid-60's Chevy pickup, V-8 (don't recall the size), in the parking lot.

... and they say Malaysia is the only one keeping prices of some goods artificially high.
Pfah.

Thanks for the input.
