i removed the roof trim on my volvo because it was all crackly and what not. i got most of the crackly-ness off but some of it is still glued on there. a razor blade doesnt help much. will heating it up help? any other suggestions to get it off.

Or soak the area with some kerosene, with the use of a pump-spray. Doesnt always work though.

At the Ace Hardware store here, there's this small bottle of about 15ml that costs like RM15 (yeah, that expensive) that only says glue/sticker-remover that i have used MANY times (need to get a few bottles, though) for positive results. It doesnt eat the paint, though it may need some time to seep in.

Run to your nearest DIY hypermarket and see if you have anything like that.

Cheers.

Coming back to your original post, it you heat it up, from the inside, there is a possibility that it will hurt the paint.

i just fixed mine last week. i had the same problem and what it did was get as much off as i could and then sand it a lot until you get a smooth transition so its not noticable. and then paint it. if you know what your doing you should be able to make it so you cant tell that theres still the tape stuff in some places

i could probably do that if i was going to paint it. im going to polish it. i got most of it off with a dremel and wire wheel. worked well. i installed it back on the car and it looks good. my next question is, how can i get the caps on the end to stay on? rubber cement?

Get the original clips back to fit it.
