it's either under your dash, passenger side, or check under the hood, back by the windshield, you'll have to lift up the black panel where your wipers are, there should be a couple of clips there. the filter is a pull off and lay on type of filter. good luck.

Hi
I've just fitted a new filter. However in the UK some 2.5LPT models weren't fitted with a cabin filter. I don't know if this applies in the States I had to get the filter housing off a V70 in order to be able to fit a filter. This is very easy to do however. The filter housing is located beneath the plastic cover which lies between the base of the windscreen and the rear engine bay bonnet seal. To make the job easy you need to remove the windscreen wiper arms. Then undo the torx screws holding the plastic cover in place. Carefully pull the cover forward to release it from the trim at the base of the windscreen and lift it clear. Removing the filter is a piece of cake and the replacement just clips in.
Regarding the odour. It could be a dirty filter. However the most likely cause is bacteria in the system which accumulates over time and apart from smells can cause eye, throat and chest infections. This can be cured simply by using an aircon conditioner. These are available from spares shops. I used one made by Comma. You set the aircon on max cool with the fan on full and the recirculation function on. You place the aerosol in the rear footwell with the front seat pushed right forward, set it off and shut the door. The can sprays for about ten minutes and the vapour is sucked through the system killing the bacteria and deodorising the system.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
