I just bought a 2003 S40 yesterday. I noticed that the horn seems to work when it feels like it. I had a similar problem on my last car, and it turned out to be a relay. Could this be a relay problem?

Also, they sold me the car with only the valet key, how much would it cost to get a copy of the primary key/remote entry from the dealer?

Hi,

I had a similar problem a while back with my 2000 V40. The repair shop found that water had gotten into the horn and shorted out the horn.

It was intermittent in the beginning, but it became permanent after a while.
