Wih I knew cause I cant seem to get mine to work at all. I have replaced almost everything in mine and it still doesnt do a thing. As for replacing things, that is easy. Putting one in from scratch will be a little more difficult, as you will have to run all the wires and air lines yourself.

It is possible that Volvo prewires all the cars for it anyways (the air lones wont be there though I wouldnt imagine). If so then then what would probably be the toughest part would already be taken care of (running the wires to yourturn signal stalk for the new cruise control stalk. Other those wires, I would think the rest wouldnt be too difficult to run.

There is a relay to be put in the fuse box area as well.

My cruise control pump is located right underneath the battery tray.

The brake pedal switch would have to be installed (I think it is mounted directly on top of the brake light switch).

Good luck. I expect I am leaving something out though, since I have replaced most everything in my cruise system and still doesnt work. Anyone know if it is somehow connected into the ECU or ABS modules? I know my ABS module needs to be replaced, could that cause a cruise system not to work?

Thanks Greek, I haven been wondering about that and have needed to replace the AB unit ever since I got the car. So, I guess the ABS module will now be next on the list.

Well, I was looking into buying one of the rebuilt ones and then having mine rebuilt to keep as a spare. The rebuilt ones are not all that expensive (under $100 from what I have found).

When doing it this way is there still any soldering to be done? I thought it was just a module that you unplug, remove and swap out. I havent actually done it so I dont know. Appreciate the heads up though, so I dont attempt to jump the gun, although soldering work is no biggie, I do enough of that anyways.

If I recall, the ABS module is the one right in front of the fuse box isnt it?

yeah, you'll need the e5 socket though. don't go standard or you'll strip the bolts, not that i know what that is like, either. take out the fuse, unbolt, unplug, remove. now, if you go rebuilt, just do the reverse. if you are going to rebuild it, you can drive the car without the module in it, but your speedo won't work at all. when you pry apart the top and bottom, there is a film over the guts of it, don't tear that off, either. the heat sinks are on the side, you'll see them, unlike me who wasn't paying attention.
