While overtaking today, my R.I.P popped out of its hose it the middle. I must not have tighten it well when I took it out to relook at my injectors yesterday. Needless to say, the car slowed down and I stopped by the roadsise, popped it in and drove on.

The problem is the lambda light popped on after the R.I.P popped out. How do I reset this light so that it goes off?

Muchos gracias guys!

The easiest way to put out the light out I found is to disconnect the battery for a few seconds - worked for me! BTW, what is the R.I.P???

Neil.

Hi Neil_S_2006! Thanks!

R.I.P = revert intercooler piping.

BTW, the lights went off by itself last night. Thank God.

Cheers! :)

hey big daddy, it would've gone out by itself, all it did was trip the thermo. once it sees that everything is okay, it goes out. check your codes to be on the safe side, though. for neil, disconnecting the battery does nothing for the stored code. it will come back when you least expect it.

Ahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

So THAT's what you've been doing the weekend, eh? Chasing cars and all.
:)

When the reverse intercooler pipe came loose, the engine detects something wrong. The MAF told the ECU that there is a certain much of air being directed into the engine, went past the MAF sensor, into the turbo, out the top hose, and on the way to the intercooler, it got broke and the air went out to space. Hence you probably were running pretty rich by that time, (fuel dispensed but no air backup) when the o2 sensor reads the exhaust fumes.

BTW, even if it goes off by itself, the error code is still there in the system. Tak percaya nanti baca codes tengok...

:)

Cheers, bro.

Hey, hey, hey! :P

I wasn't chasing anybody, was on my way for a wedding in Chenor. Exited at Maran and used trunk roads, so traffic was slow and wanted to overtake. That's when the hoses popped out.

Bear, I though we wanted to share purchase a code reader? What happened to the idea?

What can happen if I do not check the codes and erase them? WIll it impact the performance of the engine or cause damage? Just out of curiosity.

Thanks! :P

depends on the code. cel will just be annoying unless it reads rich and then it'll retard fuel delivery and spark. same with tranny codes. just go and steal it from bear, the wife will let you in. leave the kids as look outs give them some candy and they'll watch out for daddy.

Went to check and erase the codes today. Was charged RM50, but I think they should pay me for teaching their staff how to use f**king thing! ****!

Tried a few high speed runs, no more lights popped up. SO ok I guess.

Greek, care to join me in this covert mission of swiping a few codes from Bear? Heheehe..

Bear, have spoken to Sabriyu, definitely interested. However, as a mech, he needs to know if we could use it on other car makes as well? If can, I guess we can have the deal sealed.

Lemme know dude.

It will impact on the performance as the Check Engine Light consumes power which your engine provides to drive the extra load placed on the alternator.

However the wattage used by the CEL is probably in the the region of 2 watts - and if your engine struggles to provide this amount of extra power, well ............. :haha: :haha:

To sum up, I wouldn't be too worried about the CEL affecting your vehicles performance.
