I have a 850 non turbo and I'm wondering if someone here has "tunned" his ECU with a performance chip.
Is i worth it?
Thanks

not sure about the non turbo chip, but i had different chips in both of mine, turbo R's. one was the rica and the other from ipd, both were a big difference, but, you do need to do everyting else to benefit from the mods. injectors, exhaust, filter, plugs, etc. you chip, you'll run rich and the codes will start popping up. save up and do it correct the first time out. good luck.

DO you know where I can find all the "before" chip stuff? That will be great...

ahhhhhhhhhhhh, not enough coffee and cigarettes, yet. heheheheheh, anyway, depending out how much you want. a basic stage 0 tune is what you want to do first. get good quality plugs and wires, etc. go for an 8mm wire. nology, etc. same with plugs. now people say to use only the volvo plugs, i use the iridium plugs with no problems. what filter are you using? k&n? box or cone? do the oil, crankcase and tranny, filters, etc. new hoses, etc. i know this seems extreme, but you would be surprised by how much power you are losing by little crap like this. have you done your flametrap yet? another thing to do. now, once this is done, see if you like the power difference. if not, then go for the stage 1 tune, exhaust, then stage 2 with the chip. but you also need to answer the problem with extra power, brakes and suspension. can't go fast without stopping or turning corners. that is why do the stage 0 and work from there. i know that the chip is easier but no fun when you are burning more fuel, at $4.25 + a gallon, and then you can't stop or turn to avoid someone. or worse, your flametrap being stuffed up and it smoking like a bbq on the fourth of july  not trying to stop you from doing some mods, but better to make your base car solid then to have to do it later on when something breaks. try ipdusa.com for the speedparts, etc. and fcpgroton.com for the regular parts, hoses, filters, flametrap. good luck and post if you need anything else. we are all here and have done it also.

Nice one, Greek!
:)

Yes, i am also on iridium plugs now, and bigger cables. the fire is niiiiiice.

For an idea of what to do, you can go to IPDUSA, but just bear in mind that the stuffs are not the ONLY available things for you. THere are many other workable alternatives for your 'investment'. So the idea is to research and do it well to suit your fancy.

As for chipping, my friends have tried quite a few plug-and-play chips, but i would think the BEST one would be the one where the tuner DRIVES your car at a track or something with one hand, while the other hand is busy tapping the keyboard of his laptop , "tuning" the software. All the while , you are in the back seat, with your hands all stretched to the passenger side roof-handle holders (and get thrown from the left to the right etc, like a monkey) and your mouth wide open... HAHAHAH...

1 such tuner that i know of, make country visits by invitation... Marco is the name, and he's from TME or MTE (i get confused always on this...)...

tme, and he did my other 850, i paid for him to come to the us. and he wasn't cheap, but well worth it. i always knew that your 850 was the fasted in kuala. nevermind all that "i am just doing a little work" stuff, or my favorite, "i don't race, i just drive a little quicker than everbody else". it is now official, bear is the man.

Just read in Eurosport Tuning's newsletter that they have a RICA PPC tune.

Check it out here:

BTW, I am not affiliated with them in whatsoever way, just wanting to share this info.

Enjoy!
