I have a 1995 Volvo 850 Standard FWD Non/Turbo. I would greatly appriciate if someone could help me to find how i can boost the performance of my car. I have thought about buying a wrecked 850 Turbo and swapping the engines but that has yet to be done. I was wondering if anyone knows how I can fix my 850 up to give it some more power. Thank you!

Not a lot you can do. Put in a less restrictive air filter (K & N). You could do a new exhaust with larger pipes. Chipping might help some but it's pretty limited on the non turbos.

my understanding is that the 5 cylinder engine in the 850 is pretty tricked out already. it has 20 valves, a pretty advanced computer managing the ignition and fuel injection system, it has a high compression ratio of roughly 10 to 1 and manages to crank out 26~30 mpg on the highway. mine seems to love the higher 3~5000 rpm's and with a total stock suspension is much better behaved and handles better/tighter than any of the honda/toyota/american cars i have ever driven before. what else do you want? take care of it and rev it up!

Yes, i tend to agree.
A buddy here on non-turbo 850 can go up to 200kmh easily, but his maintenance practice is strict.
