Am new owner of 1999 S80 T6.
The owners manual says that the wheel/hub has a locating pin to ensure that the wheel when remounted to the hub will always be aligned the same way.

I don't see how this jives with rotating the front wheel/tire form front to back and vice versa i.e. to rotate them to decrease/even out the wear and increase the life of the tires.
If the wheel/hub are balanced as a unit, then wouldn't this prevent one from moving the wheel to a different hub????

Also, I see that th previous owner had new tires installed about two years ago at Costco and the Costco tire shop has written a torque value of 103 on their tire invoice. My manual says 87 ft lbs. 87 ft lbs would seem to make more sense than 103 ft lbs considering these are alloy and not steel wheels.....

Any feedback/comments appreciated.....

Thks.

What they mean i believe by the pin is that the holes will be aligned for you. So you can put the bolts it, not that they would balance them together.

And the torque thing, im not sure what it is, i have that written down next to my torque wrench. But 87 sounds right. You should always come home, loosen and then readjust with the right torque setting. Those shops do so many cars they just use the average torque. I have 2 costco tire centers around me, one of them does the average, sometimes absolutely too hard, the other (which i go to now) adjusts to the correct specifications, i checked.

Found VADIS software say 140 nm which is 103 lb ft and that is what Costco had done. Tried to get a dealer to tell me but they didn't really seem to know or maybe just too lazy to check into. I tried sending emails to various Volvo email addresses including supposedly customer relations in Sweden and have received no replies. Not very impressed.....

Did the tire rotate today. I sure like the style which used studs in the hubs rather bolts. What a pain to aligne even withe the little lug to help. According to the size of those bolts I am sure the 103 lb ft is fine.

Also notice when doing the spark plugs, the VADIS software says 30 nm in a torque table and 25 nm in the Compression test section i.e. 22.1 lb ft and 18.4 lb ft respectively. Used 18.4 ft lbs.
Not even consistant in their software. Pretty sad.....

Follow up:
The Global Customer Relations person in Sweden got back to me:
140 nm is the correct value (i.e. 103 lb ft).

Their email in case you wish to go directly to them is:
"GLOBAL CUST RELTNS, GCR (.)" <gcr@volvocars.com>
