I bought a 2001 S80 in February, can't believe how many problems there have been. When I bought the car, the climate control module was bad and I replaced it, but the AC has never worked. There's also a warning message about a brake light, and since I installed the module, the message "factory service mode required" flashes when I first start the car.

I took it to a shop the other day to diagnose the AC. The compressor works, and if it's bypassed at the relay box, it blows cold. So the problem is somewhere between the climate control module and something inside the dash, that's what they say, and to bring it back Monday. So on the way home, I look again at the brake lights, and one of the bulbs are loose. I replace it, but not only did the brake light warning remain, but the low beam on the front left headlight doesn't work. I switch the lights to the parking lamps, but I forgot to switch them off and parked the car for a few hours before I realized it.

I go out to turn off the parking lights and move the car. Now the dash lights are flickering, the warning screen goes through a series of messages including the dipped beam and trunk lid (which is closed), and the gauge needles go haywire. After a few seconds, they'll go back to normal and the warning message will again read "factory service mode required". Then the dash loses power for a second and then it goes haywire again. This series of events will repeat themselves over and over now, with the door chime intermittently going off. And now there is no power to the climate control module at all. The mechanic who was going to finish diagnosing the AC now says he would charge me several hours to diagnose everything, and that it's best to take it to a Volvo specialist. Can someone tell me what I'm expecting as far as what's wrong and how much it could take to fix? Has anyone else had this problem?
