:00000732: Hello Members

I have recently bought this Volvo v70 1998 2.5 lpt Turbo with 93k (fvsh)

The Noise difficult to describe but it doesnt sound like when the brake pads are low
The handling of the car the way it sits on the road whilst driving takes effort i have driven Volvos before and they use to GRIP and HUG the road and smooth on corners as the corner wasnt there !!!

The previous owner told me the car has been sitting without use for almost a year..
I have read the history and on the Volvo advice sheet they recommend changing links ...I found the steering wheell a bit heavy ..The wheel alignment was done by Volvo some time ago.... Im not a mechanic and im afraid my technical vocabulary is very limited .... Now when i turn corners there is a noise that comes from the front of the car but when car straitens up the noise is gone and the noise is on the increase ........ The second thing is that there is an oil leak i believe,
im not able to locate it but the advice slip suggests that the leak is from the Turbo return pipe i dont know what this means and wether this is a costly repair ?

It would be fantastic :) to know the technical terms and what the possibilties could be so when i speak to the mechanic at least ill know what to say and when he scratches his head or ear in the suggestive mannor that this would cost an arm and a leg ill have some sort of an idea what he's talking about .....
Your help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for your time ......Cheers

Hi- have the front wheel bearing hub checked (on a lift with another mechanic). My V70 had similar problems and the noise was most noticeable when turning- it turned out to be the bearing hub. Be aware that the hubs are not cheap (~ $ 200 each @ dealer). The job is not too difficult if you are comfortable doing your own
mechanical work. You need to remove-
1) wheel
2) brake caliper
3) brake rotor
4) tie rod end
5) lower A arm
Then swing hub out and remove/replace bearing hub from back. If you have ANY doubt about doing this- give it to a qualified mechanic!!
The oil leak should definitely be found and hopefully soon. Good luck........

I agree, power steering pump is failing. Does it have power steering fluid in it? It might be as simple as that.
