Thought I was only getting 5 months out of the lowbeam bulb I changed in January, but it is actually the plastic housing on the end of the wires that's shot. I used some electrical tape to hold the metal crimp at the end of the wires to the bulb, which lit the bulb and works for now. Autoparts chain 'R & S Strauss' has a universal pigtail for $4, comes with about 24 inches of wire and bare ends.
Question: what are the two metal modules sitting on the passenger side engine compartment, behind the headlamps and under a plastic housing, and should I remove them to get further back on the original wiring? Or, can I just splice the replacement to the wiring that shows, an inch or two back from the bulb? Also, any opinions on wiring connections? I have seen the shrink-wrap tubes used in my garage at work...are they the most solid? thx all

On the passenger's side right behind the headlamps I belive is the ECU. Should be under a plastic watertight lid.
