A couple of weeks ago I had the oil changed/summer wheels installed. The tech said a rear caliper was seized, he was able to free it and changed the pads.
Since then the car makes a load groaning/shuddering sound when braking, but only if the car has been driven for awhile first 20-30 minutes. I brought it back and they couldn't find anything wrong but said the rotors may need to be changed. I changed the rotors and it still is making the same noise, albeit not as often.
Thanks for your help

try this, find a long road that is not used, or a long parking lot that is empty. go to the end and reverse at a fairly good clip. then slam on the brakes. remember not to mess with the steering or you'll go off into something that you wouldn't want to going backwards, not like i have any experience in doing something like that. then while facing forward, accelerate and do the same. do this several times and let the brakes cool off. see if that helps.

I'll try anything at this point. does this have something to do with the e-brake adjustment?
I don't think the e-brake light comes on, nor does the abs light.
It is very annoying

I saw this note in an older thread, "Has the tech measured the lateral runout on the rotor surface and the hub with a dial indicator?[U]"
Does anyone know what this means and how would it affect vibration with braking?
THanks

i'm sorry, i misread groaning and was thinking screeching. don't do what i had suggested, that is only if your brakes are squealing because they are glazed. your groaning brakes are either your brake booster going or your rotors are really thin and might need replacing. if they are too thin, the calipers have to squeeze more to reach the rotor surface. upon release they will vibrate since there is so much room for them. like the brakes on your ten speed bike. when those little rubber things got worn down, you had to squeeze harder. when they were new, all you did was tap the brakes. is there an independant brake center in your town? like midas here in the states? if so, get an opinion from them. get an opinion from a different mechanic or dealership. in all instances just tell them that you are pricing a brake job, see if they tell you if anything is wrong. if they tell you nothing, then tell them about the groaning and see if they change their minds. keep us posted please. and sorry about the wrong info.
