i was looking under my engine last night at work and saw what appears to be a switch or sensor. rh side of block towards the rear. just below th head. it is in the block but does not have any wires or plugs going to it...any ideas?

I think it might be the Coolant drain for the block.If you loosen it coolant should come out.Do not attempt to loosen when engine warm.
