Good news and bad news

The used transmission casing has some problem. There was a crack near the rear mounting. Wasn't noticed before. Hence, no install.
Good news, saw it before install. otherwise it would have been a defective tranny.
Bad news, now have to look for the another tranny.. not an easy one at that.

Still no tranny...

I ran a check on the trans model.. and found out that AW50-42LE is used on other models too, including S40, S70, V40, V70, S80, and C70. Scary part is that, 850 is listed as using AW50-40. But for sure, the one on my 850 is AW50-42LE 1208 898 (year 96)

anyone with the same parts for sale?

Dude,

I know for sure that there're a few AW40-52LEs lying around somewhere in KL just waiting to be 'fished'-out. How come you cant find them?

cant get hold of the correct part number.. or maybe I can use similar??

was looking for AW50-42LE 1208 898. I guess part number 1208 898 is difficult to find this side of KL. Went to Glenmarie, Kayu Ara, Puchong. Still can't get the correct one.

Do you have anybody I can check with?

Or.. can I use other than part number 1208 898, as long as it is AW50-42LE model?

Just to update you guys.

Just receive the delivery of the used gearbox from a local supplier. Will begin installing soon (that's my mechanic doing it).

Will let you know how it goes.. especially after testing it.

btw. Thanks AmpangBear.

hi guys..
the operation went well.. the tranny went in and so far it felt good. however, haven't fully tested it yet, and still hasn't reset anything yet. So the lambda sond is still on, but the car now moves without problem.

will only confirm that the new/replaced tranny work after reset and further tests. but I am smiling now..

and maybe will let you know how much it costs me..

Hi all,
happy to inform that so far the car has not given any noticeable problem after the replacement. thanks for everything.

btw, the cost for the tranny was < RM3500. (luckily got this before the fuel price hike)

Not yet, but its SO much more meaningful to start asking around, if you know you WILL buy one.
