how do you get the gear stick and button assembly off the shaft. the hanes manual is not helping, bad instructions. or im stupid. i have a realy nice aluminum auto shift nob for my 850. the old one has hairline crack on top. help! :wacko:

just in case you didn't see the other answer, shift into neutral, unclip the leather bootie, and pull up. if you are going to use like super-human strength, which i don't advise, then open your sunroof.
