I have a 2005 V50 SE, with the full Electronic Climate Control.

When I press the Fan Speed/Auto button, the ECC goes on fully automatic mode (as you would expect) and the display shows "Auto Climate". If I then adjust the fan speed using the outer dial on the combined Fan Speed/Auto button, the "Auto Climate" status disappears from the display (again, as I would expect) BUT the green LED in the centre of the button stays ON. I would expect that the green LED should turn off as a result of manually taking control of the fan speed. Am I right to expect this? (I had to take the car back to the dealer as the air conditioning wasn't working - they're going to replace the compressor which is noisy and seems to be the problem - but I'm wondering if there's more to it than that).

I had the use of a 2008 V50 loan car from the dealer and and the Fan Speed/Auto control worked as I'd expected in that car. When I pointed out the difference I was given a general "sometimes details change from year to year" - which is true, but I am still sceptical that mine is actually faulty.

Can anyone with a 2005 V50 confirm if it operates the same as mine? Thanks.

Yes, you are right. The green LED comes on as soon as you push the automatic climate control button. As soon as you modify the fan speed the green LED should come off.

However, it will remain on if you disable the A/C, for example.
