hello

on a recent trip my car was pretty heavily loaded with 4 people all there camping equipment and 4 cases of beer

well the car was sitting pretty low although i dont think it was overloaded, anyway i destroyed 2 rear tyres one blew out on the motorway as the camber was so bad that it destroyed a 1/2 inch strip on the inside the other looks pretty bad

has anyone else suffered any camber problems as now that i look at mine unloaded it looks like it had loads of camber at standard or maybe my suspension is knackered, its a 98 v40 with 115,000 miles on the clock

also can some one please measure the distance between the ground and there rear sills and also the distance above the rear wheel to the bottom of the wheel arch

The same thing happened to me. On a camping trip through Europe I was returing home when two tyres blew on me (both driver side with the outer edge of the inner tyre wall worn away) with a heavy load on the car. Rear wheels now look overly cambered and there is now a thumping from the rear suspension. I'm looking to get this rectified. My car is also a 98 V40.

Its fairly common for the rear suspension bushes to wear out, the bush at the front of the rear suspension arm, camber control arms and the link arms all wear. Although they should knock along time before and the tyres wear unevenly a long time before you see the wheels arent true.
