i have a 94 850 turbo with ecc air. my problem is when the car is cold at startup and till you drive it fora while, it makes a loud sound like a high pitch squeal that last from idle to just over 2500 rpms, seems like the faster the engine rotation the less the sound. imbarassing you can hear it coming down the street. anyone else have this issue? belts, pulleys cam gears?

Could be any of them things, or water pump. You are going to have to try and pin the sound down a bit more. Talcum powder (chalk) or wax rubbed onto the belt would stop the squeal if it was slipping

Pop the hood and listen carefully, to find the origin of the squeal.

It may be the belts. Make note of when you last changed your belts. If its time, better not delay it. Especially with that "327hps" in your engine.

May i know the specs of your exhaust?

1) The downpipe (from turbo flange to the flexi-pipe)
2) The flexi pipe
3) The piping after the flexi
4) Do you have a bullet installed? Or a sport-cat?
5) The piping thereafter, all the way to the exhaust box
6) Thereafter?

Thanks.

1) The downpipe (from turbo flange to the flexi-pipe)
5-2-1 custom made manifold, prototype, 4.5 mandrel bent to pipe
2) The flexi pipe
custom remake widen to 4.5
3) The piping after the flexi
4.5 mandrel
4) Do you have a bullet installed? Or a sport-cat?
custom made bullit style cat, strait flow w/t 4.5 mandrel, no smog law here
5) The piping thereafter, all the way to the exhaust box
4.5 strait to the can with no first stage resonator box
6) Thereafter
4.5 to the 5inch apex n1 sport exhaust with the #2 cap for sound and back pressure.
all work done by american muffler here in town, they make it custom from bluprint to install and they race mustangs. i plan on mass producing this setup. i have a couple of s70 friends that want the same set up.

oh yea, only 4 turns in the piping. and i run top grade pump gas. and some magic mix my street racing **** friends made up, 10% alcohol etehenol and somthing else, all i know is it burns quick. dont run it unless im solo scca running, so far no damage to pistons, pump, injectors, filters or readings just a more raw petro. cant get to top speed, just keeps on climbing past the pin stop, the car gets unstable like it wants to fly. really scary and wont stay strait, my friend with a m3 gave up chase at 160 on his speedo, but i kept it floored to the next exit a mile and a half farther. he wont play with me anymore, and im a grand richer. ha ha.

damn, sounds like my old 850. your unstableness at speed is lift. you will need to lower the chin spoiler. that used to happen on the other one until i had a guy fab up a chin spoiler from a messed up R bumper. helped ALOT. post some pics. what turbo are you running? which injectors are using? big bear and weezy are correct, check those belts. not so sure about the water pump. could be the power steering pump, though.

As you have 327 HP under the bonnet, it is probably the noise from a lot of those 327 horses simply squealing with delight at the thought of being given the opportunity of taking the bit into their mouths and doing a fast gallop.

lol yea, i think so too, but i will be posting new pics soon, and again its a sharp high pitch wine not a squeel, and it stops when you give it a little bump on the pedal then as soon as thing calms down it starts again, then goes away at high speed and warmth.

chin spoiler? will i have to make one? does anyone sell a replica of the world famous btcc 850? pic below.
the turbo was bought from evolve.com, 2nd stage 2005-Evolve-Volvo-S40-Sedan-Garrett t4-Turbocharger
injectors came from the site also out of the evolve S40
and plan to obtain a entercooler front mount from evolve out of an 2008 c30 t5
im trying to convence evolve to create a line for the classic 850, but for now the fact that most vos have t5 inside its rather easy to put the puzzles together, ther are some pics in the garage section but im rapidly building the car most are outdated. this 850 is bound for the great american race this september, new paint and graphics, tasteful of course, are coming soon. new recaro seats too.

The magic mix must be a combination of acetones as well. What's the TOP speed for you, on that piping setup?

I'm on 3inches halfway from the DP to the mid-connector. Then decreased to 2.5 to the resonator BOX, and then 2.25inches (ori setup) to the end. My top was 235kmh.

Yours?

for the (auto) trans computer wont allow enouf band without custom rebuilding, but will get a newer later models guts are in the works. the top speed at a give was 168mph before the check light came on and i screamed stop. ive tried to keep my baby as unatractive to the eye of speed as posible, right now she is like a medium well steak pink in the middle wit a little blood, but with an awsome bite. i can cruise by the cops and not worrie, but can hawk and murder any honda, and can keep up with most of my local friends in bmw and the like.
i still have the problem of lag on dead starts, but at a running go its rather quick. i rarely see full throttle unless i have room and no cops are present, im kinda afraid of it, but thats part of the fun. it will roast the tires at a light if you manage to get the tires loose, but you have to let up or it will change gears thru the spin causing me to crack a rim on a imperfection on the road. sorry for the book! im in love with my 850!

cut off the lower edge of the R bumper, just below the fogs, then it will have to be attached to your bumper. have it glassed and smoothed. then painted, it will be lower about 1-1 1/2 inch. that front airdam on the pic wouldn't survive any of the entrance ramps in ny. or my driveway. my current 850, i saw 150-ish on a run up the Long Island Expressway on a sunday morning runnning against an evo. my cel popped up and i let off. had the little mother dead bang to rights. i'm running 3 inch all the way back, the diverters are 4 inch. the rear exhaust has an old silencer welded on to make it look stock. no inner. my old 850 had a 4 incher all the way. porsche boxster muffler running side to side. no cat. dumps out the drivers side. all custom. too much $$$$. miss her though. had all the parts shipped in from sweden and germany. not too many places here for hop up parts at that level. had green injectors and a mitsu 25T on it from japan. 19T on the current one with blue's. did you brake load your turbo to keep from bogging off the line? linelock does wonders. who does your trans computer work? would love to get their number. have some new ideas for mine, but need the trans computer done to handle the power mods.
