i've decided to seriously consider getting one of my dream cars: a 60's dodge charger. now living in england its rather hard to find many chargers for less than £20k or $40k so i'm thinking of a decent one that needs some tidying up. the only problem is those type are only in the states. so, has anyone imported or exported cars to give me a rough guide of costs? and does anyone have any usefull advise on how to go about finding one? i've been considering this for years and i'm willing to put a few grand into it. not looking for a souped up street rod just something iconic and fun to drive and own. after all, how cool is it to have a 69' charger sat on the drive?

bro, a little advice on the classic ponycars/musclecars. during the late 50's through to the 70's, the mopar siblings (chrysler/dodge/plymouth) were all going through labor problems. so those cars are rare because most of the time most of the factories were understaffed. also, lots of worker there were disgruntled and would sabotage their own cars. they would weld loose bolts into the frame rails to make noise. oval out holes that were supposed to drilled straight. the cars were overpowered, underbraked, loose steering and shoddily made. and of course, i would kill to own one of them today. to get a rust-free example, you would need to look in the south west. most of the 8 cylinder models will be in the 40K dollar range. not including redoing a crappy resto probably done 15 years ago. best thing is to get a 6 cylinder model and upgrade. if you are interested, truly interested, email me and i will help you with what info i can.

I have no idea on shipping costs, I would have to research that myself.

As for finding one, here's a good U.S. site....
http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/

I like to brouse here....
http://www.motors.ebay.com/

And this might help too....

Just realized there's no Chargers advertised, but migh be useful anyway.

cheers guys. i have been browsing ebay.com and that's part of why i decided to get one finally. my insurance is cheaper since i hit the big 25 years old and now i have some cash on the way (i hope) so i'm putting some serious effort into searching. however i'll freely admit i know nothing about classic american muscle letalone chargers. i can search ebay forever but i can't spot a cherry from a clunker. had considered all the classics and though i'm very tempted to a 60's firebird or camaro i'm sticking to the charger.
