My 2002 S80 T6 has an annoying rattle in the glove box. Does anyone know if there is a method to adjust the glove box to close tighter, therefore stopping the rattle? Driving down the road, the left side of the glove box appears to shake a little, with each shake comes an annoying squeak of plastic. I open and shut the box and it tends to stop rattling for about ten minutes, then it starts all over. I don't want to glue any plastic, rubber or cork dots to the box as this, in my mind, isn't a proper repair. There has to be some type of adjustment to the latch or catch to make the fit correct.

I know it's not much of a problem... but help. I hate rattling noises in the car!

Mine just started to do this more and more...still under warranty, but its a fine line in terms of whether it would be an "adjustment" or covered. All the same, when I have a few minutes, I was planning to look at it to see if I could adjust something, at all.

there is a kit that fixes this. i think ipd sells them, or fcpgroton.com either way, i think it's the hinge that sags just a little bit and causes this. i think that there is a post in the s80 forum. good luck. post your solutions as it might be beneficial to other members.

Thanks for the info. I've looked for the kit on both web-sites but don't find anything. Also can't find any reference for glove box hinge when searching the s80 forum. I'll keep looking....I suspect the s60 has similar glove box?

let me see if i can find it. i will post it here. i think that the kit consisted of longer screws and a locking washer to keep the screw from backing out. or something like that.

In my case the squeak actually came from the auto light switch behind the glovebox. You need to undo the glovebox gas struts to access this bit. Then add some plastic grease to it. That fixed mine.

I'll give it a try next chance I get to work on it. Thanks for the information.

Just got through with waxing the car. Everthing is covered in pollen here in NC...

The way i fixed it was i put 2 rubber bumpers on the far left top and and far right top. It closes tight now and doesnt rattle anymore. Inexpensive and easy fix. Now for the mother of all rattles, the sunroof. haha.

:P I've found in addition to the above is buy a small amount of velcro strips.,
cut to a size you want to use as bumpers..You can always add another if the thickness is'nt enough...
