I store my '98 C70 during the winter and my battery went dead. This locked my SC 900 radio so I needed to enter the security code. The code in the owners manual didn't work so I pulled the radio hoping the correct code was written on it. No luck but I found out why the original code didn't work - - the radio had been replaced with a refurbished one.

I tried emailing a couple dealers (my closest one is 125 miles) but they wanted me to bring the car in, probably so they could charge me. I wasn't going to get the car out of storage until this crappy weather improved so I started entering codes sequentially starting at 1111.

I worked up a spreadsheet to keep track of the codes I had attempted. There are 864 possible codes so it could take a long time if the right code is one of the last you try. You can try 3 codes every two hours if you leave the key and radio on after the radio displays "System Off". If you shut the car off you can enter a set of 3 codes after 8 hours.

I hit the lottery and found the correct code after 76 code attempts. Don't know if this means anything but my original code was 1411 and the correct code for my refurbished radio is 1311 - - coincidence?

Hope this info is helpful to someone. If anyone wants my spreadsheet of possible code combinations, let me know.
