Hi everyone im new to this site and was wondering if there are any issues with the S60 D5.
Im looking to buy a 2004 with 2005 facelift SE model. I cover around 60000 miles a year and it would have to last around 4 years, it has 62000 on it at moment.
I know these will be rough estimates but what sort of high mileages are these engines capable of and how reliable are the engines and transmission (manual 5 speed), also what would the expected life of a clutch be and the mileage interval of cambelt changes.
Any info would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

D5 engine bullet proof, s60 tried and tested also very reliable.

Timing belt around the 100,000 mile or 8 year mark.

Would expect over 120,00 miles out of the clutch and perhaps much more but if been used for towing or been driven poorly who knows.

The best car volvo built in my opinion, I would have one.

We have T5's and D5's at work, which spend all their lives racing up and down the motorway networks 24/7, pursuits, emergency runs etc. They are really worked hard, and are almost at their weight capacity.

Our garages change the belts on them at 90'000 miles with no problems.

The D5's that we have are bulletproof!! I've got a 2.0T but want a diesel next time.
