When I bought my car, I quickly figured out the key to the ignition did not lock or unlock any of the other doors. So I had the dealer make me keys based on my vin number. Well those keys did not work in the ignition nor doors. So I have just gotten used to leaving the doors unlocked and of course the trunk was the same. I knew that I could lock the doors by pushing the drivers side door lock button because all the locks would lock, but as soon as I opened the door, the drivers side would unlock. Also, I noticed that I could not lock the drivers side door when the door was open. So I just got used to it and never left anything very valuable in my car. Well today I left my car in the lot of my local Goodyear Dealer who had worked on my truck. I picked up my truck, left my Volvo in his lot to return later to pick it up. Well I returned and the dealer is closed but surprised, surprise---my doors are all locked and I cannot get in---trunk included. How did they lock the doors? How can I get back in? Do I need to talk to a locksmith to make keys to my door? Help! My Goodyear rep is going to hear about this but I feel pretty dumb in that they knew how to lock the doors w/out the keys and I did not.

HAHA, I don't know what to tell you. The door locking system of 940's drive me nuts though. I have a 94 940. I like the locks but not at the same time, I have one key that does everything. I figured it would take a lot to lock them inside. I'd have to get out of the car open the trunk, lock the doors from the drivers side with key, then leave the keys in the trunk and then shut the trunk...i've often wondered if this would even work, but have never had a chance to test...with an extra key of course! I'm sorry I'm of no help. I think it's kind of funny...even though I know it's frustrating.

I know this thread is old but I do have an idea how you can accomplish this task.
You can open the hood, and from there you can make the central locking system lock the doors by applying power from the battary to one of the connectors.
then they only have to close the hood and there you go! :clap:
