ive seen loads of topics on abtaining dianostic codes for volvo 440 1995, how do i get these codes , do i have to take to a dealer or are they displayed somewhere.

the older models have a code reader by the air intake box (not sure which year they started using the standarsd code readers). the old version instructions can be found here:-

Hmm seems 1993 is the break point, maybe a search of the forums will help here.
any garage should be able to get these codes for you.

400 series diagnostics

just remember to click "unlock" on your remote fob before you try to pull the codes otherwise you will get nothing ;) also you may get different readings with the engine hot & cold but all that info is on that site
