Check your engine codes (or get them checked) all the times I have had those symptoms its been engine sensors.
a couple of times the oxygen (lambda) sensor, and once was a vaccuum hose to the air pressure sensor which had the pinhole blocked.

When I got my last (current) one it was just the same- crap mileage, new oxygen sensor, and it was running great, I now get between 33-39 mpg most of the time, round town is the worst, at about 30.

I didnt have to replace the sensor on the air pressure one, just clear the blocked vacuum pipe.

sounds more likely to be the oxygen sensor then, basically the excessive fuel consumption says there is soimething wrong, the end of that vacuum line to look at is the injector end, thats where the restrictor is, and you will need something about the size of a pin to clear the hole, its small. it may just be that if you have cleared that, its got to the position it can sense the oxygen sensor not working. the diagnostic codes should pinpoint the problem.

did you run it whilst you had it disconnected, you should be able to find instructions ion this forum to clear the light. sometimes it needs a few miles to settle down.
what were the figures for the emissions part of the test, for mine the allowable is 3% yet mine usually goes through at about 0.3% or less.

on the fast iddle check the lambda actual value was 1.024 which was a pass,
like i said this green triangle light only came on when i poked arounf the hole on the air pressure switch, any chance of pointing me in the right direction to clear this green warning light.

im realy sorry to keep asking these silly questions

just im worried this green light is doing something

thank you

the green light comes up when it senses a problem, and on my other violvo (which actually has this light) it goes out again, hmm 1.024 whilst a pass is still high I think
on mine the last test shows:-
co limits <=3.5% actual 0.078%
HC limits <= 1200ppm actual 40ppm

basically what this shows is my carbon monoxide is about 2/100 ths of the allowed, and the hydrocarbons (unburnt fuel is 40 parts per million)
I'm guessing that yours will be higher, but maybe still under the allowable, showing you are pushing fuel through unburnt.
One thought occurs, have you checked your air filter recently, if that is clogged with dust it can ruin the economy.

what it says on my DGA 2500 MOT report is min limit is 0,970 and max limit is 1.030 and my value was at 1.924

i just cant believe my problem as no light showed until i tried to clear the small hole in air pressue sensor, what i plan to do is visit a breakers yard and get an other air pressure switch and lambda sensor,

in the mean time im searching this site on how to clear the green indicator

many people have told me to check codes, does anyone know how i check codes as im not sure.

i dont realy want to put in a expensive garage it will take me yonks to save up

please can anyone help with the green triangle light
