:57: I have a 1982 Volvo 740 which I got several months ago. Since I got it and brought it home I have misplaced the keys. What I need to know is how do I go about removing the ignition lock assembly so that I can replace it with a new lock assembly for security reasons. Also does the one key work in the ignition, trunk and door lock? Seems like I only had one key for everything but can't remember for sure. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

with mine i have 2 keys. one is the master and does everything and another is just doors and ignition.

if you remove the steering column cover you should be able to see the ignition assembly clearer. there should be 2 or 3 torx head screws holding it in place.
