Hi,
When the check engione light comes on, the mechanic tells me it is for thr egr system? They replaced a sensor, reset the codes, but it came on the next day.
They sent it out to an electrician who found some hot grounds?. The codes were reset, but as usual, the check engine light is on again. They have reset it a few times.
Any ideas?

it could be any sensor on the car thats causing the problem. if you actually get the codes and look them up/post here people will be able to help a little more.

other than that it could be egr, o2, vacuum, oil, water, crank position, cam, throttle, air temp abe .... any of them

Matt

edit: just seen that its a turbo ... it could be the connectors on the Air mass meter and or the O2 sensor on the feed pipe from the air box to turbo. I was once fiddling with these on mine and the light came on and i crapped myself, so i left the battery unplugged for a day or too to try n reset, but it still came on. i then decided to re-seat the connectors (which were loose in the first place) and everything was fine after that.

I'm sorry, I should have clarified, that each time the light has come on, the codes point to the egr, in spite of the sensor having been replaced. The light always comes on the day after things have been re-set.????????

ok fair enough. have you checked the wiring for shorts? have you replaced it with a sensor of the same type. is it 2 pin non heated or 3 pin heated or 4 pin heated?
