Hi everybody
As I post about two month ago, my 97 960's AC does not work.
I remember it work once before the winter 2007, it the day I bought the car.

Last week, I bought a recharge kit, I plug it in, the gauge showed low pressure. However, after I charged it to normal pressure, the AC still not work.
Also, I look at the compressor clutch in engine compartment, it never runs...

What should I do in the following folks? Summer is coming... :crying:

I tried one of those kits and mine didnt work either so I took to an aircon expert
he drained and refilled the gas and its worked ever since.

aspencade .... If you got it from halfords it was most likely 13a/b. The existing stuff in the circuit is probably 12b or somethign like that i remember ...

there are some compatibility issues between the two and you have to have it checked out before you do it or somethign like that i heard, unless that was only for the states ..?

Also you could have over-filled which can have bad thigns happen and not working.

Where abotus in the uk are you?

Matt

Hi I am in Leeds (UK)
I definitely didn't overfill it.
The only issues as far as incompatibility goes that I am aware of is mixing the two gases ie. R134a and R12, R12 being the older type gas.
My model takes the 134a.

that is indeed what i was reffering too. You may have a leak in your system somewhere. Have it checked. Also are all the fuses intact and not blown?

Hi Matt
Since I got mine drained and refilled it works, It is the original poster who's aircon doesn't work.
Thanks for the replies and interest though.

Aspencade and Syko,
Thank you guys for your reply.
I don't know if I can drain it by myself, if so, do you know where is the drain port?
I think I got the right gas it is R134a, and I didn't overfill it because there's a gauge kit told me where the right pressure is.
I hope drain and refill could help, if the problem is in compressor or clutch or some where elso, that's much more tough to fix... labor fee in US are extremely high, I don't know what's the level in UK, but US level is 5-6 times than my homeland China.

fair enough. To give you a rough idea, my uber good volvo specialist is proper geezer like ... now i will stop talking like i am from london, cos i am not ... he is a good guy and they are all pretty spot on with they're cars ... they charge about £50 an hour labour which roughly equates to ... $90-110US depending on rates ...

yeah r134a is the right gas for today's standards, i don't know whether they actually used it in that system when it was made though. if you have documents for the car and the air-con had previously been done have a check ... i don't think you can mix the old and new gas very well...

as to regarding the ports, if its the old gas, you cant let it into the atmosphere here you have to take it to someone - probably the men in black. i wouldn't know about there.
