I'm going to feel like one of the biggest idiots on the earth for asking, but where is the dipstick to check my transmission fluid? 02 S60 awd...
Thanks in advance :liebe011:

Don't feel dumb, I just checked the owner's manual online, and I can't find it in there either. I have a maunal, but my guess is it's buried back by the firewall?

dont feel bad at all. they are kinda hidden. look down near were the transmission and engine meet (near the starter) you should see a big black pipe coming from your intercooler to your throttle. the trans dipstick is right under that. its a little yellow dipstick with a big round head. (bring a flashlight)

word to the wise though. dont try and put any fluid in unless its volvo synthetic fluid. if your try and put reg ATF you will need to by a new trnasmission in about
week. if your trnas dipstick is down and hidden like that its synthetic if its up high and easy to find at the top of the engine then its reg ATF but most likley it synthetic

hope it helps

Yes, I have an 04 S60 AWD encountered this today because my car is groaning a bit (low power steering fluid -- just ordered some Pentosin as recommended) and because I think it is low on transmission fluid too (difficulty going in reverse this morning but finally gave).

I went looking for the dipstick and found NOTHING in the owners manual. I had to hunt around the engine and FINALLY found a yellow ATF TINY dipstick hidden down tucked away. I had already seen in the manual that it wanted a special type of transmission fluid: I found Mobil ATF 3309 through other forums.

I just have NO idea how I could add any fluid?

Any simple way to add fluid when the dipstick is way hidden?? Is fluid always added through that dipstick opening?

It's all new to me, but I am resourceful so I thought I would ask :)

Thanks

Diana
