Just bought a 2001 S80 T6. Car has 113000 miles. Only paid 5000.00 thought I was getting a good deal but I am having a problem when starting out at a stop sign or street light. Seems like the cars turbo kicks in way to soon and jumps out of the hole, NOT SMOOTH. I have read all the posts about the ecm and etm. My problem kinds of sounds like this. On the highway its smooth, great acceleration. stalled a couple of times also but only at low speeds like just starting out at intersection. Any help would be greatly appreciated :460: .....

 Sounds like it could be a fuel pick-up problem...Expect any auto repair shop could hook a pressure guage up and get a reading....I believe my 02 S80 T-6 is around 50 psi...Couple of years back I had to get a new fuel pump...

Really hard to pin point a problem of this nature without the use of a computer...
These Volvos only run by computer...
Am sure others will pop in and give there thoughts....Good Luck

not sure about the S80, but on the 850s', there is a sport button that you would press and it would boost the turbo faster. is there a similar button on your 80? if so, did you mayhaps have pressed it?

Hey guys thanks for the reply. The car was at the Volvo dealer today and the put in on the scope. No error code was found so I spend 100.00 and nothing was done. I was told by them I should do a timing belt and a tune up. Sounds Like they just want to gaff me for some more money. As to a sport button I have a select trac button only Dont see any sport trac button. mmmmmmmmmmm now as you mentioned about the fuel pump.
The only time I have a problem is when I take off from a complete stop. Dont you think This would also affect the car while on the highway?
But I thank you and the car is going to a local mechanic tomorrow. I will mention the 50 psi to him Thank You

That was the first of several hundreds you will spend (back to the mechanic tomorrow?). Like me, you absolutely love the car. Unfortunately, the S80 will not love you back. I don't have experience with the newer models (one is enough for me), but the 2000 has way too many problems for me to recommend it to anyone else.

$5000 only sounds like a good deal now - trust me when the total gets up around $10K you'll realize what you've gotten into.

i dont have the t6 but the scheduled timing belt and pumps and such replaced is 105,000, you're over due. When i replaced mine, the bearings were already loosened on the the water pump. I would advise doing it. If one of those fails you might mess up your engine thoroughly. Loss of 5,000. It cost me under 1,000 for the the full timing belt replace and the components, but that wasnt done at a shop or anything. Volvo probably wants 1,300 or more forgot the exact sum. Thats probably why the guy sold it, he didnt find it necessary to spend that 1,000.
