I have a 1999 C-70 and the oil dip stick has broken. I have been to 5 places and nobody can reach it. Was told that the dipstick tube would have to be remove. Couldn't I just continue to drive and change the oil, etc and leave the stick in there? I don't see how it could hurt?

Any advice is appreciated.

welcome to the forum. where did it break? did the handle come off? if so, if you shine a light into the tube, can you see the stick? if so, get one of those extendable magnets and see if you can reach it and get it out. it is not advisable to drive this way, since the tube if just that, a tube, it goes into the oil pan and, even remotely possible, will lose oil in rare cases. beside the threat of any foreign material falling in there. if you are mechanically inclined, why don't you change it yourself? better to change it, worse case scenario, than drive it like that. the thought of paying for a rebuild on a volvo engine is ludicrous. unless you are wealthy, then can you adopt me? my wife will gladly dump my butt for money  good luck and keep us posted, since your situation might be beneficial to others.
