Hi all. I have a 2002 S60 2.0T, running on the standard 225, 45, R17's on Michelin Pilot Sport 2's. I've found that although the alignment of the front wheels is as it should be, the car is shredding the inside edges of the tyres. I'm being left with the cord showing on the insides but about 4mm of tread on the middle and outer edges after about 7K to 8K. And before any of you say it, I don't race round in it or drive it hard, as fuel costs too much in this country to be able to do that LOL. Any ideas or remedies would be appreciated.

sounds like your camber is off. alignment might be good, but your alignement top to bottom needs to be checked. good luck.

I agree with the others that the camber is off.

All other things being equal, if you were racing around the outer edges would be wearing faster, not the inner.

The camber is adjusted by slackening the strut bottom pinch bolts and adjusting/moving the hub in the strut. Many struts are replaced on s60 model then develop tyre wear/steering pulls because the mechanic on the job does not realise that he/she has disturbed the camber.

My thanks all for your advice. Just in the process of getting it all sorted out so my new tyres can go on and hopefully last longer!!

wooooooooooohoooooooooooooooo. now go smoke those babies with a block long burnout. of course, you might need to go and do the camber again. but hey, what's a little off camber rub after a block long burnout.
