I have just purchased a 1991 740 GL Wagon which I am very happy with. It has travelled 200 000 km but is in great condition. One very important question, however, which I have been unable to get any information.

We have three children (one in booster seat, two in baby seats) and would like to mount all three seats in the 2nd row. My local Motor Trim shop found two pre-fitted mounting bolt holes in the right and left positions but was unable to find one in the centre.

Is there a centre position pre-fitted or will I have to have a custom mount done?

PS - There is no built-in booster seat (like my other car, a '96 940), just a flip-down armrest.

Is this for a LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system? If so, they were probably not fitted in the 740. What they've found could be mounting points for the rear-facing 3rd seat seat-belts which would make them strong enough to hold a LATCH mount.
The rear seat belts should be able to safely hold all 3 seats even without the LATCH tethers. If I remember correctly, the 740 seat belts have locks on the belt buckles -if they don't you should have a metal clamp with each seat to lock the belts in position.
