2008 C70 -- very low miles (less than 6000) --
when braking, sounds like loose strut(s) and also hear it when on rough road.

This shouldn't be happening in a new car should it?

This is the most expensive car we've ever bought, and I've never had this kind of an issue on other cars/trucks -- hmmm. . .

Wife loves the car -- I want to like it, but it seems awfully fragile for a $50,000 car.

Any ideas? Guess we take in for Warranty repair.

you know, we all were wondering how you were doing. glad to see you back. either way, whatever it is, dealer. warranties rule. don't let them bully you or anything. go texan on their a*&, you know, don't tread on me. good luck and keep us posted. to me it kinds sounds like struts, but not enough mileage. unless you tried to pull a snake river with the 70

Doing great, thanks TGM! :liebe011: Like I said, wife absolutely loves this car, and believe me she drives very gingerly, like the ladies do.

Just can't imagine how we could have a bad strut, or loose strut so early in the game.

Will keep posted on the dealer visit.

i don't think it's loose or bad. might be broken. does it jump around when you push down on the front corners. like they used to do to check shocks.

Had car in for warranty check @ 7000 mi. --
apparently the struts are fine --
the noise and rattles are in the roof (when its up) --
thought they fixed it, but its back (loud rattle at slow speeds right above driver) --
will have to take back in -- there's got to be a fix.

Otherwise wife loves this car -- says she will live with the rattles if she has to.

TX C70,

I wondered if that was what you were hearing. I heard the same thing and initially thought it was from the suspension...a low bouncing sound that sounds alot like a hard rubber ball bouncing. But I also have a high pitched squeak (like a sheet of stiff plastic being waived) that comes from the roof right by the driver's and passenger's head. This is my second C70, the first was a 2006 that never made these noises. My second is a 2008 I got in April, but its been to the dealer 3 times to fix this, and after 28 days in the shop I haven't had much luck. Had a mechanic, shop foreman, and volvo tech trying to fix it. the second time they came close and got all of the noise to go away except a squeaking on the driver's side that happened on some bumps between 20 and 30 mph. This last time they just made it worse, so it sounds like it did when I first took it into the shop. Sigh...I still haven't gotten a response from the Volvo rep as to what they're going to do about it.

Very interesting your corroboration of this roof noise -- with top down, no problem (the rattling parts are in the trunk!) I thought they fixed it on the drive home, but I guess most of the drive was highway so I wasn't going slow enough for the rattles and pops. We will have to take back soon -- I would imagine this would be an easy fix. Please keep me posted on your progress. Thanks!
