BLUF: Car advertised as heated seats, it doesn't have them, I didn't realize it until I got home.

Hey all,

I need some advice on what to do. I think I may be "stuck," but I want to ask you all what to do since I am not well experienced in my ripe old age of 24.

My wife and I purchased a 2006 Volvo S40 T5 today. It was a car that I found on eBay. Here's the link.

On the way to the hotel (after picking it up and paying) we realize we forgot to check for heated seats. In this particular car, the "climate package" includes heated seats, rain sensing wipers, and headlight cleaners. Because the auction listed heated seats, I assumed it had the climate package installed from the factory. I called the salesman back, and he said he will "check into it and get back to me on Monday." We live out of state, but I am moving to within 3 hours of this place in a few weeks.

What can I expect from this situation? I'm guessing they aren't going to offer any kind of refund, nor will they offer to put in the option. What would you all do in this situation?

Since their ad listed heated seats, if the car does in fact not have them I would find out what it would cost to add heated seats, either after market or through Volvo and then either ask that they install heated seats or give you the money for what it would cost.

However, their ad does state that you are buying the car as is and that you are welcome to inspect prior to buying so you may be stuck with it "as is". Let us know what happens.

depends on where he lives. and where the dealer is from. if it is stated in a print ad, in NYS, regardless of if it was a mistake, resitution must be made. now, he needs to check with ebay on their take on this. ebay might find in his favor and have the dealer do it. that whole protection thing. it's not like he thought it would have it, it said it had it. now what type of dealer is that guy that he doesn't know what his car has. besides that it has to be at least a week that they would check on the progress, not like he got it an hour ago and flipped it on to this other person and his wife. hunt this guy down, get your heated seats. keep us posted. welcome and congrats on your 40, even without the heated seats.
