my 1989 volvo 740 gle sunroof wont slide back into open position because the previous owner had the headliner replaced and the padding is too thick on the sunroof. any suggestions as how to remove the padding on the sunroof piece or thin it out or something?

other than removing the headliner and thinning out the padding, there isn't. that't the only way. since you have to remove the material to get to the padding anyway. just drop the panel and thin it out.
